I started with Grafton in 2013 as a Sales Advisor on the plumbing counter which I thoroughly enjoyed, it also gained some experience with the various other product groups which has helped me tremendously in my new role as a Sales Rep. I applied for a position on Grafton’s Sales Academy course to which I was successful, this course came at a great time, as a position had just came available for a Sales Rep in my branch. 

My new role was a big change for me but Grafton was behind me every step of the way with more help than I could have possibly imagined. Everyday is something new and I am continually meeting new people which for me is the most rewarding part of the role. One thing which I love about working for Grafton is how they encouraged me to develop my career and they knew exactly when I was ready and what direction to take me in my career, something I could not have done without their help. Grafton is a fantastic place to work, from all the people within it and they continually support me both in the short term and long term.

I joined Chadwicks as a Part Time Administrator over three years ago. I progressed to full time within a year and became a Credit Controller. Last year Grafton funded my first year in college and this year I am going to get my qualification. I am hoping to steadily move forward within the group over the coming years. I love the diversity of working in such a large company and the opportunities afforded to me.

I started in Grafton Merchanting in 2002 Glasnevin as Plumbing Sales Advisor. I now work on the plumbing counter in Thomas street. As a qualified first aider before I started in Chadwicks the company has always provided my refresher training for this and always offered additional training when I wanted it.

I enjoy working in a Chadwicks as the company is a place where team work is a great asset of the company. I would hope in the future I can progress further in the company as there are many opportunities available.

Pat Hughes

I started in 1978 filling the shelves and sweeping the floors in Chadwicks of Glasnevin (now Woodies) and moved onto the sales counter for two years. I then went into the I.T. dept which was setup by Michael Chadwick to install our in-house computer system into the Chadwicks branches and worked there for 15 years. From there I was responsible for the buying and distribution of imported timber for the Group. I was then Product File Manager in Chadwicks for a few years also. I then moved to Grafton Head Office where I am now the Promotions Manager and I have no doubt in the future they will give me a new sweeping  brush so I can start brushing the floors again as they have never been as clean since my days in Glasnevin!! But joking aside it’s a really progressive company with lots of opportunities and challenges and I have met some great people, that’s why I like working here.

I started working in GMROI in the Steel Division in 2007. After a couple of years I moved to the Accounts Payable Team and enjoyed my experience there. In this department I developed a keen interest in accounting and subsequently moved to the Department Treasury Team. In 2015 I got the opportunity to move to the Business Support team where I work now. In my time in GMROI I have gained many great friends/colleagues that I really enjoy working and socialising with. I would have no hesitation to recommend GMROI to anybody as a great place to work in.

I Joined the HR team in GMROI in 2014 after working in a broad range of industries and roles, some would say HR is my second career! Daily interaction with the business excites me, inspiring change whilst managing the day to day activities of a busy HR department is my goal. People are my passion, hence why I have chosen the wonderful world of HR, with no better place to be to live out my career ambitions than with GMROI! The best thing about working here is that despite being a large company it really still feels like a family business. I first started with Chadwicks Coolock in December 2016 after a reference from a friend that was already working within the group. My  friend had a lot of praise for the company stating there is a lot of opportunities for extra studies and learning to improve my knowledge.

I had worked previously for another company for 15 years but I needed to make a move for family reasons  i.e. closer to my child’s school / crèche etc. I really haven’t looked back since and have told myself that I should have made this move years ago!

I couldn’t speak highly enough of my colleagues here, they have been very welcoming and have a wealth of knowledge and are always on hand to help to which I have been passing on to new colleagues.
